Total Likes Analytics do not work properly

Service: Hoop.la

Hi there,

I found out that our Analytics Total Like doesn't count all likes in total. I summed up by hand and got around 80 Likes for a day - the analytics gave me 28 for the whole week. Is there a possibility to fix this so I don't have to count by hand every day?

Thanks,

Jule

Hi, Juliane:

We have the ticket in our system, but I don't have an ETA on when this might be fixed, yet.

I'm sorry I don't have a more concrete answer for you!

Lori

Hi Lori,

thanks for answering. Could you give me an idea on how long does this will take? We're working on our strategy for 2019 right now and it would be great to have an engagement rate we can work with.

Thanks, Jule

Hi, Juliane:

We are still investigating the issue, and we haven't had any similar reports.

It's hard to know when it will be fixed, but hopefully before the end of the year. I know that doesn't help with your immediate need, and I'm sorry I don't have a better answer for you!

Hi Lori,

I counted the likes of past 3 weeks by hand and was wondering what types of likes hoopla uses for the analytics? Does only the "I like a blogpost"-likes count or also the likes on topics or also the likes on comments and replies? Maybe we can solve this issue by talking about the different types of likes in the hub - and if all the likes should count in total.

Best from Berlin,

Jule

Hi, Jule:

It's definitely supposed to be counting ALL the different kinds of "likes", from the blogs, the topics, and the comments.

Lori

Hi Lori,

okay thanks. I counted the past three weeks by hand and got the following numbers:

Week 1: 20 Likes official, 62 counted by me

Week 2: 32 Likes official, 91 counted by me

Week 3: 57 Likes, 121 counted by me.

So looks like there is a huge difference between our results and the results Hoopla shows us.

Hi, Jule:

My apologies for the delay in my response! We were closed for the Thanksgiving weekend.

I've been told by the team that we'll probably be looking into the issue this week.

Lori

Hi, Jule:

Our dev team took a look at this, and we discovered that you and I are counting likes that aren't being tracked by the reports we're running. For Advanced Reporting, only likes for content and clips are being counted, not the likes for replies and comments.  A lot of the likes that you see in the Activity Stream are for comments and replies.

So, there isn't a bug, it seems--the system is working as intended.

Lori

Hi Lori,

thanks for the update! Is there a reason why not all types of likes are beeing tracked? Or is there a possibility to changes this in our settings? So we can see all likes in total including likes for comments and replies? As it's an active community our members write a lot of replies and comments and like them way more than just our blog posts. We would love to include these activities in our engagement rate.

Thanks, Jule

Hi, Jule:

There is not an option at this time to change your settings to include likes on comments and replies. The focus for the Advanced Reporting is on the content itself, and not the comments and replies. It would require a change to the software itself to do that. If you're interested, I can check into the possibility of a customization, and get you a quote for that.

Would you like me to ask about a customization?

Lori
