Reintegration of Social Networks - Several Issues

Reintegration of Social Networks - Several Issues

So, because of the issue one of my members had today with integrating Instagram (due to your recent SSL changes), I went into all of my social network integrations and updated all http site and callback references to https, just as your prompts suggest.

I have had and currently have full functionality of Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Google+, Flickr, FourSquare, Twitter and LinkedIn SUPPOSEDLY integrated for site sign-ins, profile links, and content streams (where applicable, with exception of Google+ sign-in, which I turned off tonight because it's not working).

As you know from my earlier post today, I am still experiencing trouble with Instagram because the http change put me into their "sandbox" mode, so I had to resubmit the app for a completely new approval. Hopefully they will reinstate my app in a timely way, as this is a much used social network.

However, I am also experiencing trouble with several other integration features related to sign-ins:

I have enabled site-wide sign-ins with FB, Twitter, FourSquare, Pinterest, and Linked In, and I have also personally enabled them all on my profile. However, only Facebook and FourSquare sign me in.

These are the issues with the other three sign-ins:

Twitter - I don't get an error message, I just get returned to the sign-in page

Pinterest - I get this redirect error, yet I have changed all the redirects there to https, so I am not sure why this is the error?? A screenshot of my Pinterest API redirects will follow.

LinkedIn - I get this error; it seems to get a little further than Pinterest, but . . .

Any idea how to fix these errors? Have you systematically tested all API interfaces since the new SSL went into effect? Seems like a lot is broken with sign-ins that has nothing to do the updating redirects.

Help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Julie,

It seems there are a couple of different issues in play here. First of all, your Pinterest integration looks to be working to me. I know that I have seen caching issues with Pinterest in the past where changes are not reflected properly right away. I suspect that's what was happening when you were getting that error. It should be working for you now as far as I can tell.

It looks like LinkedIn may have made a change to their integration that has caused issues within We are going to need to investigate.

I'm not sure what is going on with Twitter integration, either. We will be investigating that, as well.

You are correct that the LinkedIn and Twitter integrations do not appear to be related to the SSL change. We have tested domain and SSL updates previously without issue, so these types of callback changes generally shouldn't be an issue. One common problem is that these social networks can change their integrations, and we may not always catch the announcement (if there is one).

It sounds like Instagram is requiring a re-review of your application, but I'm not sure why that would be. It's obviously up to them what their rules are, so hopefully they approve you soon.

We'll get back to you once we have an update on the LinkedIn and Twitter integration issues.

Thanks. You might want to look into the IG integration thing too, because I don't know for certain if my https change is what triggered the "sandbox" mode; I may have been in it for some time before then and just didn't know until the customer pointed out the issue. perhaps they changed more too. It's a pain to have to go through the submission all over again, as it is very involved.
