Problems with group invitations

Lately we have been notified by many of our Group Super Admins that 

  1. People aren't receiving the invitations they're sending to people to join their groups (even after ensuring people's notifications are turned on and that the invites aren't turning up in their spam/junk folders); and
  2. Many people receiving group invitations are taking the first step of joining our overall site, but not the next step of joining the group they have been invited to (thereby still showing up as pending group members)

Any advice?

Hi Emma, I'll have to ask one of our ops team to check out the undelivered emails (perhaps we can see where they're getting stopped).

Regarding the two-step joining process...if someone is invited from INSIDE a group (by clicking the "invite others" link) then they join both the community and the group in a single click when they hit "Join Group" from the invitation.

If the invitation is sent from the top level, then they go to "Join Site" and then they have to take the second step to join the group itself.

If you need to send from top level, you might try including wording within the custom text that tells them to join the group as a second step?

I see group invitation emails successfully delivered to the email servers for four of these addresses. There isn't one for matthew.way@durham.ca but I see that email is being delivered successfully to that email address as well.

I know you said the emails are not in spam/junk folders but it can help to have your users' whitelist emails coming from alerts@hoop.la. Also, have them check their spam/junk folders for any emails that came from alerts@hoop.la and mark any emails they find as "Not Spam".
