Looking to space the reply buttons.

Service: Eve Community

A few of our members with touch screens are having a hard time with the reply buttons on our site. Fingers are bigger than pointers and a few deletions have happened.

I was trying to figure out a way to place the "gs_reply_wquote" to the left of the td class="ev_msg_buttons" and the "eve_edit" centered while leaving the other two (Report & IP) at Justify Right.

buttons

I'm unsure how to accomplish this.  Is it a setting I'm not seeing in my control panel?

Thank you

Hi Bill-

You can use CSS to accomplish what you want. In Eve, you can add CSS using the "Insert into HEAD Tag" field under the "Custom HTML" section for the style  you are using on your site.

Thus, you could add something like this into that field:

<style type="text/css">
img.eve_reply_quote, img.eve_edit, img.eve_msg_alert { margin-right: 12px; }

</style>

Note that we do not typically provide CSS assistance free of charge. I'm just doing this to give you a head start.

One final note... the (very old) Eve platform is not geared toward a mobile experience at all, because it was created well before "mobile" was a thing.  I highly recommend that you consider our current platform, Hoop.la, which is completely responsive and works and looks great on ANY device. (It's also much easier to customize and make these kinds of CSS-level changes).  We can move you over to Hoop.la, with a free migration of all of your eve data, and keep you around the same price you are paying now.  (If you see current Hoop.la pricing, you'll see that is a great deal.)  There would likely be a small setup fee, but otherwise our goal would be to keep your monthly fee about the same as you are paying now.

If you'd like a quote for Hoop.la, please let us know!

Thank you for your input. I tried to go this route and I even made up some images that were wider and slightly taller with transparent backgrounds. The problem still remains with the entire section between the images still being responsive.

I'll talk with my members about a migration and give you guys a call next week about the particular concerns I have based on members input.

Perhaps you can direct me to a link that might answer questions about the process?

I played around with it a bit more and settled on this.

<style type="text/css">
img.eve_reply_quote, img.eve_edit
{  margin-right: 7px;
    margin-left: 7px;
    padding: 0px 10px;
    border: 2px solid #0378AB;
    border-radius: 6px; }

    </style>

My issue now is the images are repeating inside of those two oblong boxes. Acceptable but not ideal. I'm using FireFox

It's live in the sold forum now as I'm testing out different things to see what might work. http://www.barthmobile.com/eve...1087061/m/2013938977

My thoughts, as a diesel truck mechanic, was naturally to take a hammer to it.

Thanks for your time on this matter.

BTW: Am I using Hoop.la now?

Yes, we are using Hoop.la on this site... though this particular area where the customer support is happneing is Hoop.la's QuestionShark module, not the forums module.
