is there a way to change menu items?

Service: Hoop.la

Hi there,

Wondering about changing menu drop down items on a group's page. Right now they have various types of clips (audio, video, photos, etc.) and the group would like to change the word photos to "scenarios". Is this possible?

Thanks!

Hi, Heather:

You can change that in the Wordlets section of your control panel (under Design). Click the edit link by the wordlet set you are using, and search for "Photos". There are a number of wordlets with that word in it, but you want the one that JUST says "Photos".  Make the change that you want, and then click "Update" at the bottom of the page.

WARNING: I know this will change the sub-menu item, but I'm not sure what else it will change, so you'll want to have a look around and make sure that you haven't unintentionally changed something that doesn't make sense, or work for you.

Hope that helps!

Hi, Heather:

I'm sorry--I didn't catch that you only want to change it for a group. You're right: changing it would change it for the entire site. There isn't a way to change it for just the group.

Hi, Heather:

I was just reminded of a workaround for you: you can create a custom menu item for Clips, with dropdowns for the types, and just make a menu item for "Scenarios" that takes people to the Photos page.

In case you haven't done anything with custom menu items, yet, here's how to do it:

In your Group control panel, go to Group Menu.
Click the link to add a menu item.
Add the menu item for Clips, and use the appropriate URL for that.
Now you can add sub-menu items, and call them whatever you like, using the appropriate URL for each.

Once you're done, you'll want to remove the original "Clips" menu item from your menu, which you'll do on the same page, by clicking the trash can icon. Note that you can also move menu items around, if you like.

Don't forget to hit "Update Order" when you're all done!

THAT should do it!

Let me know if you have any questions.

Lori
