We have a discussion board about language, and have had it with Social Strata since 2002 and are currently using Eve. Many of our members are from the EU, and we do have their information. Therefore, we need to convert to Hoop.la. However, we would like to keep all our posts since 2002, as we often refer to them. Is this possible?
Yes! We'll migrate all of your members and content over from Eve to Hoop.la.
We would start the process by having you sign the form that we sent you from Pandadoc--did you get that?
We can set you up with a demo, too, so you can get a good look at Hoop.la from both the front end and the control panel.
Thanks for signing the form.
We'll put you in a plan that includes 1 million page views per month, up to 20,000 members, 100 GB disk space limit (only applies to attachments), up to 400 chat room participants, and unlimited bandwidth. This plan typically costs $399/month, but we'll discount it to $175/month, and waive the setup fee, as well as the migration of your data and members.
We'll prepare a Service Agreement for your signature, along with a Migration Agreement that outlines the process of the actual move, and we can use this ticket to work through everything. We'll set a migration date that works for you and for us, giving you plenty of time to alert your users and plan for the small amount of downtime required.
Let me know if you're interested in the demo!
I assume this won’t change things, but would it decrease the price at all
if we didn’t have the chat room capability? We really don’t use that
Also, if it were to go to $399 per month, we’d be forced to shut down. We
don’t have that many active members as is, and Ken and I are only paying
for it as an outside activity.
Thanks very much.
There is no change in price if you don't use the chat feature...you just wouldn't have it in your menu.
Also, to be clear, the price will be $175, not $399, so no worries there!
Hope that helps!
Just checking in to see if you're interested in seeing a demo?
I've attached a copy of the service agreement and the import agreement for your review. These are not quite ready for signature--we need to figure out what date you want to move before we can do that. Once we've got you scheduled, we'll send them to you for signature via PandaDoc.
You'll also see on the Service Agreement that we offer a 2-hour RightStart, which is designed to get your site set up the way you want. It's available for a one-time fee of $199. It could be that, once you've seen the demo, you don't feel like you need it, but the option is there for you.
Let me know if you have any questions!
I don't want to pay $199 for a right start. Is this a lot different than
Eve? I am beginning to regret my decision to move to this new platform.
I work full-time and don't have a lot of time to spend on learning a new
system. I'll try it, though, and see how it goes. If it is too difficult
for us to use, I might just have to end this discussion board.
You definitely do not have to purchase the RightStart.
Let's set you up with a demo, though, so you can see what we're talking about. We can also do a screen-share walk-through with you, so we can show you the highlights.
I'll arrange to have the demo set up, and, if you'll let me know you're interested in setting up the walk-through, I'll have someone schedule that with you.
I know you have had someone in the past who helped you with the Eve site--I can't remember his name, though: is he still on the board? You could also invite him (and a couple of other people, if you like) to the demo, and even the screen-share.
We'll be setting up a demo site for you today, so please look for that invitation later.
The other person who had helped me with this was arnie in our site. He has not been around that much lately, but I’ll see if he can help with this.
How's it going? Are you figuring things out? Would a screen-share walk-through help?
You had mentioned that one of our members had helped us before, and I asked him to help with this. However, he apparently is very ill and cannot. I'll try to do this myself for now. Many are telling me that I wouldn't even need to convert since I don't take money from anyone. We do, however, collect their data and I thought because of that we needed to. I do hope this works out because we have enjoyed this discussion board.
Sorry to hear that Arnie has been ill.
I can't advise you on this...but I CAN tell you that it has nothing to do with whether or not you take money. You're right: if you are collecting their data, you should consider this.
Have you had a chance to look at the demo? The screenshare walk-through might make you feel a lot more comfortable, and you are welcome to invite anyone else you like--maybe someone else from your site would like to sit in. It takes about a half-hour. If you're up for that, I'll have Dave schedule with you.
What do you think?
