Hi, we've just ported over to hoop.la from Eve and I am wondering if there is any way to control what events appear in the activity feed? For our forum it would be preferable if announcements of the purchase of premium memberships and members following other members did not show up in the feed. Any info on controlling this (if it is possible to do so) would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
There is no admin control of what shows up on the Activity Stream at this time. Note that your members can filter just by choosing one of the tabs at the top of the page (All, Content, Comments, Actions).
I could turn this into a suggestion for admins to be able to control the kind of content, if you like?
In the meantime, you have more control if you use an Activity Widget instead of the Activity stream, so you could potentially remove Activity from the menu, and place an activity widget on the front page, or any other page of your site.
To remove the Activity page from your menu, you'd go to the control page, under Basics, and choose Community Menu. Click the trash icon next to Activity, and then click the "Update Order" button.
The Activity Widget will appear in your widget list under General Content, and you can filter it by the same tabs that appear on the Activity page:
Would you like me to turn this into a suggestion for you?
Thank you for the prompt reply. I would appreciate having this turned into a suggestion, but in the meantime I appreciate the information you provided, this should allow me to come up with an interim solution that would help. Our particular forum deals with information of a very sensitive nature so some aspects of forums that are no problem on other types of forums can become so on ours.
I completely understand! This is now a suggestion, and other people can vote it up.
