Re: Notifications not working completely

Brian Lenz ·
Hi Jason, This is likely related to the server migration last week. We had some out-of-date SPF records that would have caused this issue. We've corrected the errant SPF records, which should help address any mail issues users are seeing. SPF is a verification process for email to make sure the sender is a valid server. Since the server from which mail was being sent had changed, some mail services (e.g. AOL) may have started blocking mail from our new servers. It may take a while for mail...

We'll continue to monitor mail issues on all of our servers to ensure that mail is being delivered as expected. In cases where we find that mail is being blocked, we will take whatever action is necessary (where possible) to correct the issue. Regards, Brian

Re: Notifications not working completely

Hi Jason, We've just now completed a maintenance for this. The SPF records may take 5 minutes to propagate (though it likely is done by now). We've added the original IP addresses back onto these servers in order to fix the PTR (rDNS) issues. Both of the messages you posted here had delivery issues due to missing/incorrect reverse DNS. This was caused by some new IPs that we used as part of the migration process. Those IPs are no longer in place, so you should find an improvement in mail...

Re: Daily Digest / Weekly Digest of notifications?

Brian Lenz ·
Hello, Hoop.la currently only supports daily/weekly digests for notifications of forum topics. For all other content types (blogs, clips, calendar events, dialogs, chat events, etc.), instant email is the primary option. Alerts are also not currently support for new topic notifications. We do have plans to extend alerts and digests to additional content types in the future, but those improvements are currently not scheduled for release. As such, I don't have an ETA as to when they might be...

Hi Jessica, I wanted to let you know that with The Circles Release , Hoop.la now supports more enhanced alerts, which includes new content notifications. You can configure the delivery methods for your account (Email and/or On-Site Alert) in your Notifications. Hope that helps! Brian

In your Eve Control Panel, go to Eve >> Members >> Registration Settings, and choose the Basic Settings tab. Click on the flag icon at the bottom of the page to subscribe, (it should say "On" after you've done so) and then click on “Save Settings.”

Re: Hardcode notification settings for all users

Ted O'Neill ·
Hi Mary- You can already do #1. Go to the Recipes control panel and look for this prebuilt template "Contact Members Who Have Been Inactive For A Certain Period Of Time". When you lick on that, you can configure how many days since last visit, and of course customize the email that is sent to those members. #2 is not currently possible, since we have no recipe trigger based on users changing their notifications, currently. I can convert this to a suggestion for that, if you like. It sounds...

Thanks, Ted – I skipped the General section altogether, so now I see #1 right at the top… duh! For #2 I would like to be able to hardcode notification settings by role – at least minimum notification frequency settings so they can’t turn off certain notifications completely, and certain ones have a minimum of the weekly digest. Possible? Thank you! Mary

Hi, ST: Yes, you can set up a recipe to Moderate New Members. Your actions would be to Moderate New Members (with the condition of joining that group), and then just add an additional action to send a notification to specific permission circles. You may already have a recipe to moderate new members, in which case you can just add the action to notify. Make sense? Lori

Hi, ST: Do your Group Admins have the Manage Members permission? If so, they should see the option to get notifications for new registrations in their notification settings by default (in the Administrative Events section). That setting will be enabled by default.

Hi, Mary! You can read the details of each option on the page where you select them (General Settings, at the bottom of the page). See the little dotted line under each option? If you hover over that with your mouse, a tooltip will appear, explaining each option to you. Lori

I'm sorry--guess I misunderstood your question. You're right: there is currently no option to customize notifications for all members. The options are pre-set as described, and an individual member can adjust those as they like.

Re: Frequency of calendar event notifications

Ted O'Neill ·
Hi Emma- Before we get you a quote, we want to make sure we understand exactly what you are looking for. One scenario would be to provide a digest (daily. weekly, or monthly) that focuses on new calendar events added during those periods. Thus, it would not matter when those events are scheduled in the future, it just tells you about the new events that were added in the specified period. The other scenario would be to provide a digest (daily, weekly, or monthly) that focuses on the events...

Re: Frequency of calendar event notifications

Ted O'Neill ·
Hi Emma- Before I give you the quote on this, let me talk through a few caveats/details for this potential feature... 1. We would place some kind of limit on the maximum number of events to display, primarily because if there are too many items, the email will be too long/large and may be rejected by certain email services. We would likely limit it to no more than 100 events per email. And note that there would be no way to see the "complete" list, if it did not represent all events. 2. Note...

Hi Emma, the easiest way to surface that list of members is to go to your Manage Members area, and filter by "last visit" date. Choose a date possibly a few months ago, and you'll see who hasn't visited the site recently. Once you have the filtered list, you can send out a communication using the "notify members" in the dropdown to say "hey, we miss you!" You can also set up an automatic recipe to do this periodically...Just go to recipes, and choose " Contact Members Who Have Been Inactive...
