Re: Date formats

Hi Darran, The date format used is actually based on the locale that you are in. If you are in the United States, it will use the MM/DD/YYYY US format. If you are in Europe, it will use the format you've listed. Other locales have different date formats that it will use, as well. The locale is determined based on your web browser, which typically gets the locale based on your operating system settings. Thus, the only way to change something like this currently is to change the preferences...

Is this currently working? As changing my operating systems Date Format settings seems to have no effect.

Hi Chris, Yep, it is working. It's not based on your Operating System's date format. It's based on the language/locale passed by your browser. Generally speaking (though it may be browser dependent), your browser will pass the value based on your OS language and region/locale (through the Accept-Language HTTP header). If you're still having issues, can you please let us know what operating system/version and browser/version you are using? Thanks, Brian

Using primarily Chrome but have tried IE as well. I set OS settings date format to dd/mmm/yy. I can see the browser languages has English (United States) and English. Do I need to remove the US one or something here? Thanks for the quick reply!

Hi Chris, Yep, the issue is that you have English - US. You'll need to change the country to Australia, and that should change the date format. This is generally most easily handled through your operating system settings. Note that depending on your browser, you may need to restart your browser after changing the setting for it to take effect. Hope that helps! Brian

I am sure it would work if I restarted but its hardly going to be viable to get 300+ members to all make this change particularly those on corporate machines where they probably don't have access to these type of settings anyway. Would be good to see an option added to set the date/time display settings in the future.

Hi Chris, Are you saying that all 300 of your members have their operating systems/browsers configured as if they are in the US, but they are really in Australia? That seems like a very odd configuration, if so. Most people have their operating system set based off of the country where they live. Is this particular issue something that all of your users are experiencing? It seems rather surprising that it would be the case. We don't have any plans to add additional options for date, time,...

The default installation for any browser is English(US), there is no real reason for anyone to change this unless they want to view other languages or want the spell checker to use there specific English, English(Australian) for example. I think you will find it very rare that a general user will have English(Australian) installed. It's easy to do, well in Chrome anyway but not commonly done. I can not vouch for all 300 users but that fact that this complaint is coming up indicates its an...

Suggestion

Methods for displaying Lists

Greg Davis ·
I created a custom profile field consisting of a number of "interest areas" for our members. This was implemented using check boxes. When viewing a member's profile, their "list" of selections is displayed in a comma separated format. This tends to jumble up "list" making it difficult to read and decipher. I would like to suggest that there be a choice of how to display this type of data. I would prefer to have the member's selections be displayed in an ACTUAL list with each selection on a...

Thanks for putting in the suggestion, Greg! I do think providing some flexibility for the UI here (through custom CSS, at a minimum) is a good idea While we don't have near term plans to change this UI, we could quote you a feature expedite to move it up the development schedule. If you're interested in that, let us know!
