Hello there... I'm still having problems with the search engine. http://barthmobile.com/eve/for...31087061/m/850102061 No matter what search terms I use, that post or any of its replies will not return any results. http://barthmobile.com/eve/for...=1&search=Search http://barthmobile.com/eve/for...=1&search=Search http://barthmobile.com/eve/for...=1&search=Search etc...
Looks like my "Search Engine" is working again. This seems to be an ongoing issue that's reared its head many times in the past. I was told that my site is on an automatic re-index or maybe I was told that the "Then Recent Update" to my site would take care of proper re-indexing. Do we have a reason for why this is still happening?
Just a couple of quick thoughts that I have. While I have constantly had this problem with this search engine failure, each time I've asked, you've gotten on this right away and have always straightened it out. Your company is very good at promptly fixing a mistake and apologizing for the shortcoming of whatever seems to be at fault. Thank you for always promptly answering my questions, addressing my concerns and trying your best to fix the problem. While this search engine failure is still...
Thanks for your prompt reply Barry. I'll let you know how things are going in the future. Congrats on the minimal downtime during your Data Center move. I'll reopen this ticket if I see another problem.
Search Engine Failure. http://barthmobile.com/eve/for...=1&search=Search Nothing on this page will hit if you try to search for it. http://barthmobile.com/eve/for...=245104903#245104903 Pick a word and try to search for it - This page seems to be missing.
Hello Bill, I have triggered a re-index of your site which should get your index up to date. I am also going to check to see if there are any problems with the indexer on your cluster which may be preventing your sites index from being kept up to date. Cheers, Jonmark
Hey Bill, Just confirmed that the indexer is running on your site, and it did process messages last night for your site, so it appears to be working. Though we are aware that it seems to get out of sync and continue to try and track down why. Cheers, Jonmark
Hello Bill, I just spent a bit of time investigating the img src url search issue you reported above and found that this is actually expected behavior. When we add a message to the index we strip out all HTML elements. So something like: <b>This is <a href="/awesome.html">awesome</a><b>: <img src="/photos/photo.gif" /> will be indexed as: This is awesome: meaning that you could not find the message with awesome.html or the /photos/photo.gif because they will not...
Same issue - nothing on this post gets snagged by the search engine. http://barthmobile.com/eve/for...=870106371#870106371 here is an example. fuel tank strap http://barthmobile.com/eve/forums?a=search ...
Hello Bill, I just issued a re-index for your site. It may take a bit to go through, but if you could try later hopefully that thread will be in your index. If its not I will need login credentials to try and investigate further. Cheers, Jonmark
Same post is missing again - search engine will not snag this post Originally Posted by bill ny: Same issue - nothing on this post gets snagged by the search engine. http://barthmobile.com/eve/for...=870106371#870106371 here is an example. fuel tank strap http://barthmobile.com/eve/forums?a=search ...
Hello Barth, I am actually out sick today, but I didnt want you to have to wait until I get back in the office. I issued a re-index of your site. The fact that this post is added to the index and then disappears does not seem right. Especially since the post has not been replied to forever. Have you edited this post recently? Something should have happened that would cause Eve to need to re-index it... Cheers, Jonmark
I don't know if its been edited recently - This post is one that seems to disappear on a regular basis - I checked all of the other post that I've reported above and they all have popped up. Even if it was edited - the search term I'm looking for hasn't been changed in all of the other times I've reported it... It's not like I changed a word and now I can't find the new word. Nothing in that post gets snagged. Am I missing what you're asking me? I'm not trying to be evasive, I hope I...
Glad its working again. I am feeling a bit better, just fighting down a fever now. The indexer should only affect a topic within the index if it thinks that the index if the topic is edited or changed in some direct way. Otherwise the topic should just sit in the index and come up when you search for it. I am just trying to track down something that may explain why the message is disappearing from the index. I will go ahead and close this again, Jonmark
Have you tried searching for just the image file name in the contains word(s) field in the search? The message as stored in the database, and I believe as indexed is after HTML transformation. So the IMG ubbcode will not be in the indexed message. Could you try the search again without the UBBCode and perhaps with just the image filename and not the fully qualified URL. Cheers, Jonmark
Reference: ok, I think what you want me to do is this. http://i687.photobucket.com/al..._upload/100_2051.jpg only search for 100_2051.jpg Did not return the page that this was on. I then tried photobucket.com/albums/vv240/barth_upload/100_2051.jpg & 100_2051 jpg and several other variations without success that img tag is located here http://barthmobile.com/eve/for...=884108413#884108413 oddly enough, if I search for [img] that post does pop up.
Hello Bill, That definitely seems strange. We are going to have to do some further investigation during the next release to determine what exactly is happening and what changes will need to be made. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and when we track down what is happening we will post back to you here. Cheers, Jonmark
Nothing in this post gets hit by the search engine. http://barthmobile.com/eve/for...=939104502#939104502 Pick a word from that post and search for it - will not hit on anything in that post. http://barthmobile.com/eve/for...=1&search=Search http://barthmobile.com/eve/for...=1&search=Search
Just an FYI: Re-Index never happened. If it did, that post still doesn't pop up. In the past, I've searched for other things that I know are on my site - unless I can find them, by searching each post, I don't report it. Thanks for keeping this ticket around. The last one I had going disappeared when we moved over here.
It's been a year - mostly stable but I did find a search engine failure. Search Engine Failure on the word Regis The word Regis does not appear when searched for in this thread. http://barthmobile.com/eve/for...453914077#2453914077 I can only find these two threads with the word Regis in it using your search engine. http://barthmobile.com/eve/for...623980967#2623980967 http://barthmobile.com/eve/for...891099402#5891099402
Hey Bill, I just triggered a Re-index on your site. We had a good run there. Give it a bit and try again. If the topics arent showing up as you expect by tomorrow just give us a ping and we will take a look. Cheers, Jonmark
Hi, Bill: Thanks for reporting that error from the Control Panel. This is a support ticket, so it's just a matter of that link being incorrect. I'm forwarding this to the development staff to get both issues taken care.
Bill: I just tried to confirm the support ticket issue on 2 sites of my own, and I am unable to do so. Can you please tell me exactly where you encountered the error? (Please describe the page and link).
