This is a great addition! A couple of things I noticed: 1. The above mentions an option to turn on embeds in the control panel. I didn't see this - but I also noticed that embeds are now already on. Awesome. 2. Ads. It's great that you added this - but in terms of usability and revenue it should hopefully be tweaked. Perhaps there should be an option to put an ad at the top and at the bottom of the page, similar to how an ad looks currently at the bottom of the page when you turn it on. As...

Hello cdub, You should be able to find the setting to turn off embeds within the control panel at: CP -> Forums -> Master Settings -> Advanced within I believe the "Miscellaneous Settings" section. Should be the top option. We thought about it and decided that this setting should be a all or nothing type deal. Thanks for the recommendations with the Ads. Sounds like a great idea. Regarding the Login Widget. All customization should be done through the CSS. We provide VERY basic CSS...

Let's see... You are right, there are conditions where the ad may not appear. If you...

Re the widget - is there a list of all the CSS classes? Can you change the size of the Avatar? I'll take a look at the source of the widget as you suggested as well. Re Dave and putting an ad on the top and bottom. Yes you can - but it is separate from the forum. The inline ads include the ads within the forum and (hopefully) make them more noticeable and attractive to visitors. The other problem I'm running into when figuring out how to use it is that Google Adsense only allows 3 ads to be...

Hello cdub, I cant wait to see what you come up with, so please, link here to your site when you are done. If you have further questions about how to customize the features in this release could you put in question support tickets for them? I think that would help us keep this ticket clean and make it a bit easier for people who may have the same questions to get their answers as well. Thanks, Jonmark

Can you please explain further how to use the embed feature. I cant seem to make it work. On my forum when I click the filmstrip icon all that happens is flash tags drop in my message. On this support forum, when I click the filmstrip I get a popup window to fill in some information. My forum is http://lanceowners.infopop.cc/eve Thanks Eric Dye

When you press the filmstrip icon you get some code that goes into your post that says something like [flash video] [/flash video] All you need to do it post your embed code inbetween those two pieces of code in your post.

When you go to a youtube video, you will see a embed link below the video that when clicked shows a textbox preselected. If you copy that text and paste it between the flash video ubbcode tags the post should include the youtube video. I hope that helps, Jonmark

Reference: I have a question about how to access my web control panel so how can I post a support ticket? To create a support ticket you have to check Private Topic: Only You And Company Staff Will Have Access To This Topic (at the very bottom, just above Post Now button) while creating a new topic.

Shaun has created a ticket, but just to clarify, you do not have to check the "Pivate Topic" box. You only need to do that if you want to keep your inquiry completely private. We look at all incoming topics and we'll mark them as xsupport tickets as necessary, whether they are private or not.

It is in your Eve Control Panel: Go to Eve>>Members>>Private Messaging. Once there, click the Manage tab, and search for the date range you'd like to act on. Once you have the search results, you can delete them from there.

Does it have to be the "actual link", or will a "relative path" work too? Actual link: http://www.socialstrata.com/images/socialstrata.ico Relative path: /images/socialstrata.ico If I already have mine inserted in the "Custom HTML" of the "Style Editor " Do I need to delete them too? BTW: Excellent addition to this platform!

Re: Eve Community 1.3.6 hot fix to be released.

Dave Dreezer ·
Bill, I would lean toward the side of caution and go full URL with this. You can remove it from the the Custom HTML as it'll no longer be needed, but if you don't remove it there will be no harm done. The important thing is that by using the control panel setting the default social strata icon is removed from the header.

Thanks for adding this feature. Can the path be to an outside URL? Or does it have to be uploaded to our socialstrata website? (this should be clarified in your docs) Ideally, it would be any url.

Also, can the file be bmp or gif? Or must it be .ico ?? And... I've uploaded the file to rotation.org/favicon.ico and put the url in the control panel, but it's not appearing. Is there a lag time for your server on this? If so, that should be noted.

I'm using IE and have cleared the cache several times. Still not appearing. Various web reports about this issue seem to indicate that webpages need some extra code to force it with some browsers, including IE. Here's a guy's blog who used to work for Microsoft. He has an FAQ about how to deal with favicon issues. http://jeffcode.blogspot.com/2...-my-site-appear.html Oother people's fave icons are working in my IE browser. Loaded right up.

Hi, Bill: Is it possible that you have more than one user? I know that I have one with administrator permissions, and one without, so I can mimic the user experience if necessary. If that's not the issue, try logging out on the machine that doesn't recognize you, and logging back in. If that doesn't work, try clearing the browser cache.

Hello Bill, The issue with the other machine could also be a javascript issue. Meaning that the user may have administrative rights, but for some reason the computer you are on is not activating the tools through javascript (which is how we show and hide the tools). Could you try manually going to the control panel with the machine that does not think you are an admin, to see if the application also thinks you are not an admin? http://battleplanministries.org/eve/cp Cheers, Jonmark

I thank my Co-Administrator and friend, Dave, for his help and for the two, obviously knowledgeable folks who've tried to help. It is very curious to me that the system recognizes my ID/password; and when I'm our Forum community - battleplanministries.org/eve - it allows me to pull up the control panel or to enter the Moderator's Forum, which says to me that the system recognizes me as an Administrator with Moderator Permissions. Yet, I cannot do what any forum member can do on my laptop ...

Hey David and Bill, Finally, to confirm one more thing: David, you logged into your account on Bill's laptop and were able to do all of the things that bill is for some reason prevented from doing? Is that correct? Do the functions that you are prevented from doing even show up on the page, or are they missing entirely? If they do display do you get an error when trying to do them or something else?

The good news is that you will be able to use your laptop for administering your forums. It could be an issue with the browser (we'll figure out what's causing this issue). In the mean time, a possible solution is to use an alternate web browser. You could try downloading firefox and see if that'll get you the immediate access that you would like. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/switch.html

If you don't mind me saying so, this has what looks like the classic symptoms of bad (corrupted) cookies. Have they been purged for the domains/subdomains in use? And then reacquired?

Re: What has changed in my Administrator Status

Bill has tried clearing his browser caches and I believe his cookies. If nothing else he has logged in and out several times, and another moderator logged into the site on Bills laptop and experienced the same problem. I dont think that cookies have anything to do with it. I suspect its a Javascript problem on the browser on the laptop preventing the links from working properly. Both of the affected links Bill mentions use Javascript to load a popup window.
