Re: The Bad Robot Release

Richards Guitars ·
Bandwidth is surely very cheep these days and I am reluctant to pay a premium OR lose my SEO. Could you please tell me what my monthly charge will now be without it? Thank you.

Re: The Bad Robot Release

Ted O'Neill ·
All of our plans include unlimited bandwidth, so that is a non issue. I'm not sure what cost you are referring to, since nothing I described in this blog requires a cost of any kind. Both new features are free. For further questions about your particular account, please post to our support site: http://socialstrata,com/support Thanks and have a great weekend!

I could have sworn I was told that I have to pay a charge for excess visitors or bandwidth of some kind? It was going to appear on my bill but you said you would hold off the charges until the new feature was released and then give me the choice of the extra charges or limit the BOTS. This is really confusing. Can you confirm then that my site will have no additional charges if I DONT limit the bots on my site?

"If your billable page views are getting close to your plan limit, this option may come in handy." - THERE! So what are billable page views if its not linked to bandwidth?

Re: The Bad Robot Release

Ted O'Neill ·
Hi Richard- Your plan has a billable page view limit (not a bandwidth limit). And if you exceed your billable page views, you will incur charges. Thus, if you are close to exceeding your account's limit, then you may want to consider using the throttling option. For questions about your specific account, please post to our support area.

Hi Neil- Thanks... it applies to all content retroactively. Thus, content created before the release was automatically "SEO-ified".

Hi Lhisa, We do have a few changes in the pipeline that may improve SEO a bit. We have plans to add support for more structured content on every page (including the H1 tag mentioned by freeseoscorecard.com). We also are planning on making sure that all images have alt attributes on them. We don't have any plans to allow support for directly modifying server-side assets such as JavaScript files. Those are all fully optimized, minified, and gzipped. Note that you can also currently control the...

I found 2 useful tools that might interest the community. Note the links. http://freeseoscorecard.com & http://seositecheckup.com SEO & other site performance issues have been a major concern for folks & I’m glad that hoop.la have already addressed some of it with the new ninja release & other tweaks, however a bit more needs to be done as I’ve learned from running the tools, notably the site checkup. If you run my site ferrelux.com, I score a 27, which is up 2 points from a...

Thanks for the reminder. I wish the ALT tag was a field in the “insert/edit image” window. A lot easier than scrolling through source code.

Thanks for this tip, Rosemary. The last time I checked, Pinterest also uses the "Title " info for what shows up as the description on a pin. It would be nice to have an easier way (other than accessing the HTML code) to add a data-pin-description. (Sheesh. Your customers are always wanting more!)

Quick Tip for SEO and Accessibility - Image Details and Alt Tag in Posts

Rosemary O'Neill ·
You already know that you can insert images into your Hoop.la posts by clicking "Add Attachments." But do you know how to refine the SEO value for each image? This quick tip offers some additional options that may help optimize your post (and make it easier to read for accessibility purposes). You'll notice there's an Attachments box at the bottom of the post, which is where you can adjust the Title and Caption if you'd like to do so. The Title field will default to the filename, but it's...

neil ·
Thanks for the clarification. I would suggest adjusting the word "Title" in the interface to "Title and Alt Tag" because "alt tag" is common web parlance, especially in SEO practice, and is an important thing to do (provide an alt tag).
