Hi ST There isn't a view exactly like the Eve main page. The choices are between forum topics (which you have) and a listing of forums (directory) with their "latest" content. There is also the content stream (which you also have set up)

Re: Need help with permissions

Lori ·
Hi, Kyle: Is she editing and deleting posts outside of the grace period? In other words, EVERYone has the option to edit/delete their posts for a certain amount of time, controlled by you. This is called the "Edit Grace Period". You can find this in your control panel, under Forums>>Master Settings, on the Advanced Tab. If you have that grace period set for 15 minutes, she can still edit within that time frame. The permission you've removed refers to the ability to edit/delete messages...

Re: Need help with permissions

Augie ·
Thanks Lori, looks like that was the problem. Grace period is currently set for 5000 minutes. We're going to be dealing with this person for quite awhile under countless more alias accounts. I'm guessing it would be easier to create a new Group with the restricted permissions and then just add her alias accounts to it as opposed to editing the permissions for each one every time they appear. Sound right to you or am I missing something? Thanks again.

Re: Need help with permissions

Kyle- I would suggest changing your grace period time to something more like 5 minutes. IT is really just designed to let people fix typos and such that they notice immediately after posting.

Re: Need help with permissions

Augie ·
Thanks, I did change the grace period to 5 minutes. Not sure who had set it to 5,000 or for what reason but it's fixed now. However, is there a way to create a Group that has restricted permissions, i.e. can't edit/delete posts, can't post in Chat rooms, etc. I can't create a Power Group because this doesn't allow me to remove permissions to the default member group. I noticed there's a Guest group but I don't see a way how to apply it to a member. Thanks again for the help.

Re: Need help with permissions

Lori ·
Kyle: I'm not sure you need to create a group. What you want to do is go into this member's profile, select Permissions from the left-hand side, and remove the permissions that you don't want the member to have. You can remove permissions that others have by overriding those permissions.

Re: Need help with permissions

Augie ·
Hi Lori, yes, that's what we've been doing but it's a time-consuming process because you can mass-remove the permissions so you have to do one at a time. Creating a group with the removed permissions would save a lot of time because we could just add the member to the group and be done with it. Is there a way to do this? Thanks again.

Re: Phishing reports

Hi Kate, I think it's highly unlikely that the spammers/phishers extracted information from your Eve site. Your Eve database is locked down behind firewalls to prevent any external access. Additionally, we never reveal user email addresses to general users in the user interfaces; only administrators can ever get other users' email addresses. Finally, there have been no known compromises that could have resulted in your database being exposed to untrusted sources. I also have not heard of any...

Hi Jason, When your site is imported it is imported 100% as is. Categories and forums are brought over as they exist on eve. There is no reason to make any categories or forums on the hoop.la site unless you are adding categories that do not already exist in eve. Does that help?

Hi, Bill: Is it possible that you have more than one user? I know that I have one with administrator permissions, and one without, so I can mimic the user experience if necessary. If that's not the issue, try logging out on the machine that doesn't recognize you, and logging back in. If that doesn't work, try clearing the browser cache.

Re: What has changed in my Administrator Status

Jonmark Weber ·
Hello Bill, The issue with the other machine could also be a javascript issue. Meaning that the user may have administrative rights, but for some reason the computer you are on is not activating the tools through javascript (which is how we show and hide the tools). Could you try manually going to the control panel with the machine that does not think you are an admin, to see if the application also thinks you are not an admin? http://battleplanministries.org/eve/cp Cheers, Jonmark

I thank my Co-Administrator and friend, Dave, for his help and for the two, obviously knowledgeable folks who've tried to help. It is very curious to me that the system recognizes my ID/password; and when I'm our Forum community - battleplanministries.org/eve - it allows me to pull up the control panel or to enter the Moderator's Forum, which says to me that the system recognizes me as an Administrator with Moderator Permissions. Yet, I cannot do what any forum member can do on my laptop ...

But I did think of that; and I've also rebooted the laptop (where I'm having the problem) as well. What I can't figure out is why the system recognizes me as having Administrator permissions, because it lets me into the Control Panel (which only forum administrators can do); and then once in our Eve Community, it lets me into the Moderator Forum, which I established for...

The good news is that you will be able to use your laptop for administering your forums. It could be an issue with the browser (we'll figure out what's causing this issue). In the mean time, a possible solution is to use an alternate web browser. You could try downloading firefox and see if that'll get you the immediate access that you would like. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/switch.html

Re: What has changed in my Administrator Status

Bill has tried clearing his browser caches and I believe his cookies. If nothing else he has logged in and out several times, and another moderator logged into the site on Bills laptop and experienced the same problem. I dont think that cookies have anything to do with it. I suspect its a Javascript problem on the browser on the laptop preventing the links from working properly. Both of the affected links Bill mentions use Javascript to load a popup window.
