Re: Is the Hoop.la platform web accessible?

Ted O'Neill ·
Hi Aaron- I'm not sure I understand your question. Yes, Hoop.la is web accessible. In fact, it is an online community platform, which is inherently on the web. I'm guessing you are intending to ask something else? Are you asking if it is mobile-accessible? If so, the answer to that is also yes. If you can clarify your question further, we'd be happy to assist. Thanks!

Hi Ted, Thanks for your response. My questions is esentially wondering if it follows WCAG or section 508 or will it pass accessibility checks? I did a few checks on the site I was referring to and found quite a few issues with accessibility.

Hi Aaron- Okay, understand your question now. You are correct, Hoop.la would not pass every accessibility guideline at this time.

Re: How do I add a Content Island to my site?

Lori ·
Content islands, literally little islands of content, can be stationed on any other page of your website as a great way to draw visitors into your community. You simply create the island in your community control panel, then cut and paste the code snippet for the island on any outside web page. In your control panel, go to Forums>>Content Management>>Content Islands tab. Click on “New Content Island.” Choose the appropriate criteria for your content island. Click on “Create...

Hi Lhisa, We do have a few changes in the pipeline that may improve SEO a bit. We have plans to add support for more structured content on every page (including the H1 tag mentioned by freeseoscorecard.com). We also are planning on making sure that all images have alt attributes on them. We don't have any plans to allow support for directly modifying server-side assets such as JavaScript files. Those are all fully optimized, minified, and gzipped. Note that you can also currently control the...

Hi, Wiekus: We typically pay out around the 15th of each month. While you won't see the payment directly in your control panel, you'll get an email from us when the payment is made. Hope that helps! Lori

Hoop.la offers much more structured content in the new Hoop.la 2.0. In addition to using H1, H2, H3, H4 tags, we also implemented many scheme elements. More on Hoop.la 2.0: https://www.socialstrata.com/blog/hoop-la-2-0-is-here

Re: Spelling error on Hoop.la site

Slaz ·
Hmm, the page in question is directly at www.hoop.la Somewhere down the page where features are highlighted, it reads: SANDBOXED ENVIRONMENT Each Business and Enetrprise customer has its own scalable environment And I should've written 'typo' instead of 'spelling error' as those are different things. Typos happen to everyone! Especially in this age where we use tiny phone keyboards.

Re: Site Map for Google crawl

Brian Lenz ·
Hi Terrence, Hoop.la doesn't currently support Google Site Maps, and the feature isn't currently scheduled for an upcoming release. There is an existing suggestion in our system that you might want to vote for: https://www.socialstrata.com/support/topic/sitemaps Finally, if it's of critical importance to your site, we could get you a quote for a feature expedite to support it. Just let us know if you're interested in that. Have a nice weekend! Brian

Controlling headers, top banners, footers

Ted O'Neill ·
Hoop.la uses a responsive grid to make sure that interfaces can automatically adapt to different screen and device sizes.  We use Foundation's responsive system . Most of the time, you do not even have to worry about that. But there are a few areas where you really need to be congnizant of the overall page structure and responsive and those include your header, footer, and top banners that are displayed at the top of the page. Each of those items is full-width by default and so they...

I found 2 useful tools that might interest the community.
