Forum name included in the "RECENT POSTS" list?

Rich Melvin ·
Can the forum name be added above the links in the "RECENT POSTS" list to show which forum each recent post came from?

Not at present, but we will certainly consider it as a suggestion!

We'll have an ETA on premium memberships later. Will be finished after we finish the search changes mentioned above.

Hello Could you please explain just how the new ‘multi quote’ function can be used when you wish to quote from a previous page, as well as the current page? This is often the case especially when a new page has only one or two post on it. I know that you can post a quote from a previous page; we need to be able to quote from more than one page. Having the posting page tied to the current page (crazy) prevents me from being able to do this as the first quote selected cannot survive the page...

It's a little like playing Whack-a-Mole, but we do use the moderation rules to keep spammers in check.

Whack a mole is right! Too bad there's no scoring system...might make it more fun.

Silly question - but if Akismet is free for personal use, why is it to be a paid add-on?

Re: Busting out a can of "Spam-B-Gone"

Ted O'Neill ·
Morgan- It will be a paid option because we will be tightly integrating it with Hoop.la's existing content moderation system, including options to send spam-detected posts to the Hoop.la moderation queue, delete automatically, and delete and ban users automatically. We will also have a "restore" queue for deleted spam.

Hi RIch! Are you talking about inside the widget? How would you handle long forum names? Perhaps truncate after a certain number of characters? Also, one workaround (not perfect) would be to set up multiple widgets and specify the forum (then customize the widget title to say the forum name).

Rich Melvin ·
Yes, I'm talking about putting the forum name within the Recent Posts widget. I agree that longer forum names would have to be truncated at some point, but even that would be better than nothing at all there. I'll look into setting up separate widgets for each forum, but we have so many forums I think that would get a bit unwieldy. There's not enough screen real estate on the home page to make that work.

Agreed! Perhaps you could cherry pick the most active forums for now... Good suggestion.

When asked in a private interview what he thought of his customers providing Facebook with all their private information, Mr. Zuckerberg referred to his customers as, "...a bunch of dumb f**ks." At that moment I lost all respect for that simple twit.

Methods for displaying Lists

Greg Davis ·
I created a custom profile field consisting of a number of "interest areas" for our members. This was implemented using check boxes. When viewing a member's profile, their "list" of selections is displayed in a comma separated format. This tends to jumble up "list" making it difficult to read and decipher. I would like to suggest that there be a choice of how to display this type of data. I would prefer to have the member's selections be displayed in an ACTUAL list with each selection on a...

Thanks for putting in the suggestion, Greg! I do think providing some flexibility for the UI here (through custom CSS, at a minimum) is a good idea While we don't have near term plans to change this UI, we could quote you a feature expedite to move it up the development schedule. If you're interested in that, let us know!
