Re: Eve: removing admin comment on user profile

Lori ·
Hi, Kate: Looks like you used the Custom Title field instead of the comments field. To get to the comments field, click on the user's profile. click "Admin Functions" on the left-hand menu. Under Desired Action, choose Add Note About Member(s). This will bring up a field where you can put your comment. Click Submit. In case you can't find your way back to that custom title to remove it, it's on the same page, same dropdown, but this time, choose Set Custom Member Title, and erase the comment...

Thanks Lori, I've updated the notes field and deleted the customer member title. The title has not been removed from the front end/forums. Does the edit take a bit of time to be reflected? Many thanks, Kate

Re: Eve: removing admin comment on user profile

Lori ·
Hi, Kate: The issue is that the pages are cached, and so there will be no change on a page until someone does something to change the page (i.e. post a reply). However, you can clear your board's cache, which will fix it everywhere: Go to Eve>>Utilities On the "Page Cache" tab, click the button that says "Clear Cache".

Re: Search by name

Jonmark Weber ·
Hey Deb, This is actually a known issue, and should be fixed in the 1.3.6 release. The issue is that due to a MySQL bug search ends up being case sensitive, where we have designed it to be insensitive. So if the keyword you are searching for happens to have a upper case character in the field you think it should match in, it will not match. Frustrating, but it is fixed in the next version. Cheers, Jonmark

Re: How do I customize our profile fields?

Lori ·
In your Eve Control Panel, go to Eve >> Members >> Profile Settings. Certain fields are always required, but otherwise you can determine which profile fields you wish to have listed as either required or optional (or disabled entirely), by choosing from the lists. You can also create custom profile fields.

Re: Profile Tags

Rosemary O'Neill ·
Are you thinking of having "tag" slots for the user to complete in the same way they can upload "stuff I love" photos? The more you flesh out your idea, the easier it would be for others to vote it up, and for us to consider it. For example, how would the tags show up in the interface? Do they appear in a widget on the user profile? Are they linked text under the user's name in the profile?

Re: Profile Tags

Ron M Pitters ·
Thanks Rosemary With current functionality, users can upload clips to the "Stuff I Love" widget but also be provided the "Tags" functionality that is found in the Blog & Forums screens, which would pick up key words from my clip captions (from the 'Stuff I Love') but also allow me to add/delete tags. Key assumption is that all users can contribute to "Stuff I Love" and that other users can view. I went to view the "Stuff I Love" widget on other users and could not find on their profile...

Hello- You cannot use MySpace themes. You can customize or create your own Hoop.la themes in the Themes section of our site's control panel (Manage > Admin Control Panel > Themes). In terms of upload issues you are having... I am not sure what the problem might be. We have no other reports of file upload issues and I have tested and see no issues. My best guess is that if you uploaded some bad CSS on your site it might be conflicting with Hoop.la in some way. Try using a stock theme...

Re: The Proximity Search Release

Julie Usher ·
Great! This should be a huge improvement. Question: Are there any restrictions on the geo search, or is it expected to work properly in all parts of the world (provided people have entered a viable postal code)? Asking because my community is very international and I'd like to fully introduce these features in a post. Thanks.

Hi Julia! The geo search should work well internationally; we spent some effort updating and vetting our postal codes for that purpose.

Re: Is there a way to for a member or admin to see profile views?

Brian Lenz ·
Hello, Hoop.la currently does not track views of a member's profile page. If you are using Google Analytics, you can probably get statistics on the views of an individual member's profile page in your Google Analytics data. For content like blog posts and calendar events, the view count only includes actual views on the community; it does not include "views" via email notifications. I hope this helps! Let me know if there are any other questions I can help with Regards, Brian

Thanks, Lori! Thanks for the info – I will mull these over and let you know if I have follow-up questions or want a quote for anything. I have been using the member search today to send reminders to certain groups of people, and hit upon a suggestion: it would be great to be able to search not just by points, but also by rank… So for example we could reward the most active members, and reach out to the least active, without having to search for specific point ranges.
