We just rolled out a software update for Hoop.la.  This was a minor release, comprised mainly of bug fixes and performance improvements, but also including the following:

1.  Change in the way we support custom domains

Previously, when you added a custom domain for your Hoop.la site, we still supported the hoop.la sub-domain, as well.  There were issues with this however... one being that your site would be indexed on multiple domains, which could hurt you from an SEO standpoint.  Another downside for sites using Facebook sign-in integration is that Facebook only supports one domain.

Going forward, we will only support one domain at a time.  Thus, if you wish to use a custom domain, we'll simply disable the hoop.la sub-domain (the sub-domain will still be reserved for you, in case you ever want to switch back,, however).  When you add a new custom domain, we will be doing some checks to make sure the domain is set up correctly, as well.  We'll check the DNS records to make sure you set it up properly and we'll also do some checks to see if the domain has properly propagated.  Finally, we'll check to see if you updated your Facebook site URL.

You now update the domain name on the control panel summary page. It used to be on the Basic Settings page of the control panel.

2.  Topic UI Updated

We updated the user interface for the topic content page.  We've moved the author info from being above the content to the left of the content.  It looks like this now:

3.  We made some plan changes

We made some minor changes to our Hoop.la plans.  Audio uploads are now available for Bronze plans and above (this was previously reserved for Gold or higher).  Two features that we allowed for Basic plans are now reserved for Bronze or greater: private communities and ad slots.

That's about it... next up: Events!
