Over a decade ago, as our business started blooming, Rosemary and I moved from the Washington DC area to Seattle to set up our first real office.  Seattle was attractive because of the natural beauty of the area, the mild weather, and the abundance of technology professionals.  (Of course, that didn't stop us from importing our first CTO from New Zealand....)

We didn't really know anyone in the area, but it was an adventure.  Plus, we didn't have any kids yet.  It's been an amazing run in the Pacific Northwest.  We've established some good friendships, hired some outstanding employees, and had our three kids here.

But as our kids started to grow up, we realized that we wanted to return closer to our roots, where most of our friends and family are- the east coast.  This especially hit home last summer, when we took a family cross-country car trip.

After a lot of research, we settled on Charleston SC as our desired location.  Charleston is certainly a much smaller city than Seattle, but aside from its tremendous natural assets (culture, beaches, and weather), we think it offers a better business climate for our company.

Thus, over the course of the next year, our company will be transitioning its corporate headquarters to the Charleston, SC area, while still retaining an office in the Seattle area.  Seattle will remain home base for our technology team, even as we grow the east coast office.  And we expect the Seattle office to grow as well.

Having an office on both coasts will also help us in terms of our level of support.  If you are one of our customers, not much will change for you.  In fact, things may be even better since we'll have both coasts covered.    We certainly feel lucky to be able to have a company with roots in both cities.
